Cyanotypes

A longing for connection combined with my perpetual inclination towards beauty, and a desire to create without technology led me to the making of cyanotypes. 
The process begins in my darkroom with an application of chemistry onto paper, then covering it with a film negative, I place it under the California sun to develop. Lastly, I wash the print in a tray of water next to the kitchen sink – the place where I’ve spent countless hours as a mother – now used to claim my artistic sovereignty. The print is oxidized in the water bath and transformed, offering a deep dive into a Prussian blue that is unique to cyanotypes.
